About Us
In 1814, our congregation as Presbyterians was founded leading to what is now Westminster. With both joy and humility, we anticipate celebrating this year 2014 our 200th anniversary of our Presbyterian membership worshiping together. “The Stone Church with a Warm Heart” has been our guiding motto for the last 102 years since our current beautiful church was build in 1911 at 110 NE Second Street in Washington Indiana. Praise God for our history and for our promising future sharing Christ’s message of hope, forgiveness, comfort and stewardship for our church, country, and world communities.
Westminster holds dearly “mission” in our prayers and actions. Our doors are open to all for worship and to several small groups needing a safe meeting place. We support our local missions and Daviess county “Connections’ with donations and have serve on its board. We just finished our 7th annual Jubilee Christmas where we both host a “Jubilee” evening allowing invited parents to select and wrap gifts for their families. We support teens who gain comfort and guidance at the Power House. For our local food bank “Feed My Sheep” we do several collections of food each year and send our volunteers to help with distributions.
This year we had our first one-day vacation bible school for all ages in our local park and plan to do another next year. We started a prayer blanket ministry this year as well, It has been such a blessing to hear the stories of Spiritual comfort and God’s healing that these prayer blankets have brought to so many. We support our seminaries and contribute to all the denominations mission outreaches all around the world.
As we seek to be faithful, our church has received a renewed sense of excitement and revitalization’s. We are looking for new ways to be a welcoming church and serve our community. Change is not easy, but God has been so good us, we pray that we will be faithful followers of God where ever God is leading.
Grow Together in Christ
The Mission of the Worship here at Westminster Presbyterian Church is to honor God and to serve our God forever. We strive to create and maintain an environment for meaningful and spiritual worship. We strive to experience God each week though the Holy Spirit in prayer, testmony, word and sacrement. We provide opportunties for the congregation to praise God and to be reconciled with God and with each other. We want to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ, to be transfomed by that news and to live out that news in our daily lives.
Giving With a Smile
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Everyone according as they purposeth in their heart, so let them give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion – it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.
